I tried so hard to savor this series. I wanted to take it slow. I wanted to hear Deacon’s voice in my ear every day for the rest of my life. And now, there’s a hollow place in my soul for these characters. I need more!
Real quick synopsis…Peter Pan is real. Except not the way the classic tale tells it. There are lost boys and girls all over the world with a gene that activates around their 17th birthday. When activated, these kids can fly and live forever. But some people want to harvest this gene and create a cure for mortality. You can guess who’s behind that.
This retelling of Peter Pan is so incredibly clever, fitting such a fantastical notion snuggly in our world. I loved it. And oh my gosh, did I love the romance. This is a YA novel but the romance is extremely satisfying, especially when you get to book 3. It’s explosive. And the build-up of tension between Vivienne and Deacon is delectably frustrating.
Deacon has an incredible character arc in this series. At first, he’s loveable because he’s a hot guy with a hot British mouth and says adorable, witty things. And Vivienne is an extremely relatable character. A girl who found a family but still doesn’t know how to fit in or accept that people love her.
Oh my gosh, I just can’t get over this series! Zura’s performance was incredible. And though I would listen to this audiobook over and over again, I need to buy a physical copy of this book so I can highlight all my favorite parts.
