A Life Unplanned
A lifetime of love found at a con...
𝘈 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘥 is a steamy romance about two nerds who find each other on the show floor of New York Comic Con, cosplaying as Batman and Amy Pond. It's a story about how they navigate their lives together, find their passions, discover family secrets, struggle with grief, and accept the love and help they need to move on.
Sadie Jones had her whole life planned out after meeting Danny in high school. College, marriage, kids. She thought she would have it all with Danny. That is until Sadie discovered her suspicions about him turned out to be true. After years of loneliness in an unhappy relationship, Sadie finds herself walking an unknown path, but one she is certain will lead to that life she had always planned for herself.
During her annual trip to comic con she unexpectedly meets a guy on the show floor. Her instant connection with Theo only gets stronger as they spend the weekend geeking out together. But their potential future relationship is threatened after Sadie learns who Theo's father is. Determined not to let their baggage get in the way of what could be real love and true friendship, Sadie and Theo put their faith in each other.

“This book was delightfully nerdy. It has a comic con meet cute, insta-love and cosplaying through out. Most romance books have a pretty predictable plot line- girl meets boy(s), they fall in love, something bad happens, they make it through, HEA. This book had that, but it also had so many other elements that, even though I knew what the general plot was, I could never guess what was going to happen next. The MCs eventually get to their HEA, but they have so many realistic trials throughout the book and my heart ached for them. I was invested in them, their family and their friends and even their careers. If you find a typical romance boring, and you need something more (like secret identities and unsolved murders and restraining orders), this is the book for you."

“Theo and Sadie are adorable, lovable characters who build a solid foundation throughout this novel. We see them have probably one of the most adorable meet cutes I've ever read and watch things quickly grow from there. Like real life couples, they face many challenges in their relationship and witnessing how they handle these and adapt and grow was not only interesting but thought provoking at times. If you're looking for a fun, fluffy novel about 2 nerds, this is not your book. But if you want nerdiness mixed with real life angst, true love, a solid relationship, and something different than most romance novels out there these days, this book is for you."

“I’m a huge nerd myself, so I was instantly intrigued by the plot of A Life Unplanned and it did not disappoint. Sadie is a complex character who had me invested from page one. Drexler is a talented writer whose eleoquent phrasing had me stopping every so often to admire her choice of words. I couldn’t believe this was a debut novel! If you’re into steamy romcoms, this book is definitely for you."

"Where do I even start? This book brought out pretty much every emotion that I have and then some! This book was an ooshy gooshy, hit you in all the feels, with a few dashes of dramatics (I mean, you have to have that part too, as hard as it is to read) laced with Comic Con and the perfect amount of smut. What’s not to love? I was completely drawn into this book from the start and thoroughly enjoyed every moment, even through the difficult parts, feeling so much empathy for the main characters. I don’t think there was a character that I didn’t love (with the exception of the Danny). I loved how the story just kept an even flow and came together. I enjoyed seeing the characters grow and evolve within themselves as well as with each other. As far as romance novels go, I think this one has a lot to offer and it’s definitely one that I would highly recommend."

"Emotional and realistic, A Life Unplanned portrays one of those perfectly relatable imperfect relationships with all the heartbreak and angst it could entail, complete with a few unforeseeable twists. It is a bit nerdy and even has an adorable comic con meet cute. There's insta-love too, as well as cosplaying, an intriguing mystery involving unsolved murders, and lots of steamy scenes. I am usually not a fan of insta-love but the one featured here is one of those rare cases that feel natural and didn't bother me at all. And that is also one of the highlights of this story for me. The natural flow of the events, plot and tale as a whole. The kind that makes you think - hey! This could be the real deal! Or, I'd love to see it on the big screen. I'm serious people. If this were turned into a movie it would be class. That's what actually crossed my mind while reading it. The trials the MCs go though are realistic enough to make the story feel 'real,' and the play of emotion flows naturally throughout. The characters were all likeable and I loved their banter and dynamic. A swift and naturally flowing narrative, complete with a well determined change in POVs a nicely upped tension with just the right amount of angst and a couple of unforeseen twists, are beautifully topped by a lot of feeling. And the result... A love story for the heart! The only thing I'll grumble a bit about is that the steamy scenes were a tad too many for me, but that is just a personal opinion and a lot of other readers out there might find them 'just right'. All in all, A Life Unplanned is a beautiful, emotionally charged love story, that goes straight to the heart."
