โThe mess in your womb led to the mess in your head.โ
We meet the main character, Drishti, as she is experiencing the agonizing pain - both emotionally and physically - of a second miscarriage. For three years, she and her husband have been trying to build a family with the help of IVF or In vitro fertilization.
Quick stats:
According to the CDC, over 6 million women just in the United States have difficulty getting and/or staying pregnant. To give you even more of a perspective of how common infertility is among women, 1 in 4 experience miscarriage, 1 in 8 struggle to conceive.
Chances are, you know someone who has had a run-in with infertility. So why donโt you hear about it? Itโs an uncomfortable conversation to have and unfortunately a taboo subject for the majority of society.
๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ด๐ด ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฃ paints a picture of what it is like to experience miscarriage and infertility. Throughout the story, there are other women in Drishtiโs life who have gone through similar experiences and women who are pregnant and thriving. Drishtiโs struggle isnโt just with infertility but all that comes with fighting to feel a baby grow strong and healthy inside her womb. She has a hard time accepting that other women get to have this experience when she is denied it over and over again.
She becomes so obsessed with what she doesnโt have that she forgets what she does have. She becomes angry and frustrated with her loved ones who donโt understand what it means to be unintentionally childless. Infertility doesnโt just take the chance of parenthood away, it takes your sanity, it takes your love, it takes everything. Does Drishti let infertility take everything else from her? Youโll have to read and see!
