Okayโฆa rom-com fantasy!?! What! Yes!!! Please give me more of this. Iโm not big into rom-com though I read this genre occasionally when I need a pick-me-up. THIS! I adored all of it. From the meet-cute to the epilogue.
I was shocked at first by the contemporary language and the modern world-building within a traditional fantasy setting. Every other fantasy Iโve read, even urban fantasy, is written in more traditional language. The authorโs choice to go with ultra-contemporary speech was brilliant! I donโt talk like Cin, but I know people who do, and I immediately felt like I knew her.
Actually, she had me at the first line: โI had only two things on my mind; cheese and how to get home.โ This girl gets it! I absolutely adored Cin. And my favorite thing about her is that she doesnโt spend the entire book fighting her feelings. She resists a little bit, as any girl would do. But what else are you supposed to do while on a deadly adventure with a demon who you canโt help but fall for?
โI can be your villain. Why donโt you let me take away the burden of choice for a while?โ Anyone here like morally gray? Fallon is your man. I just want to point out that when the spice gets started, it is fire. No sweet kisses and cute little endearments. These guys mean business. And I ate all of it up.
That being said, please check the content warnings if you have any triggers.
I cannot wait to read everything Kimberly has written and to see where this journey goes next.
